In 2004, we merged with Visual Records Consulting, Inc., a custom software development company, who shared our visionary goal of pursuing creative outlets and providing the best technology solutions.

Our Goals to Delight and Amaze:  Envisions exists mainly to find and work with EnVisionaries to identify, design, develop, launch, service (i.e., provide professional services for), support, market, and sell commercial software products. Our expertise is in commercial software, although we have significant general business management experience in several other industries. EnVisionaries are people who look beyond the day-to-day needs of their organizations and recognize opportunities for their companies and themselves. These opportunities often come in the form of very useful software tools written in old languages, not documented, no longer supported, but vital to a company's business process. Often, the opportunities are just ideas, sometimes ideas that the EnVisionary has been thinking about for years. Envisions exists to work with such people to help them realize their visions by combining their industry knowledge with our commercial software knowledge to create new products that will delight and amaze users.

We're Not just development:  Launching a successful commercial product requires many skills and much knowledge beyond software development. See the various white papers available on this site for descriptions of all of issues involved in creating a commercial software product, e.g., support, licensing, leasing alternatives, escrowing source, three levels of testing. The cost to develop a new commercial software product represents about 10% of the total costs of a product over its lifecycle. Managing the lifecycle of a software product is an art that requires extensive judgment as well as knowledge of the product management process. These are the kinds of skills that Envisions brings to the party that you will not find in 99% of software development organizations, most emphatically not in your own IT department. Even the best IT departments lack most of the skills required to create and manage a successful commercial software product.

The Founders:  The founders of Envisions, Camille Guthrie and Bob Baddorf, have significant experience in commercial software.
